Throwback Thursday!
Let’s talk about the “Jolly LLB” universe and see who might be the best for the upcoming “Jolly LLB 3” — Arshad Warsi or Akshay Kumar — who will shine the brightest. It’s like comparing two delicious but distinct flavours — excellent, yet they appeal to different palates of all. Let’s talk about the two different Jollys.
Jolly LLB: Arshad Warsi & Akshay Kumar Reunite for Courtroom Showdown

The OG “Jolly LLB” (2013) was played by Arshad Warsi, Saurabh Shukla played the role of an honest judge, Boman Irani did some significant role, and the supporting cast included Amrita Rao and Yashpal Sharma, adding charm to the film.
The movie had Jagdish Tyagi, aka Jolly, portrayed as a lawyer. He wasn’t a polished or a great lawyer; he was a bit clumsy, often underestimated, and a little opportunistic at first. But with passing time, what made him so loveable was his humour and his gradual, heartwarming transformation — from a self-serving man to somebody fighting for justice. Arshad’s comic timing and raw sincerity made Jolly incredibly relatable, whereas the other characters also contributed to the courtroom drama with their performances and were highly appreciated. Fans adored Jolly’s unique mixture of wittiness and determination a lot.
Jolly LLB 2
In “Jolly LLB 2” (2017), Akshay Kumar took the lead as the passionate lawyer Jagdishwar Mishra, aka Jolly. Huma Qureshi played the role of Jolly’s wife, giving the movie a strong emotional connect. Saurabh Shukla again was seen as the honest judge, adding continuity and depth to the series. Annu Kapoor and Karan Kapadia also appeared in important roles.
Now, Akshay Kumar stepping into the role of Jagdishwar Mishra, a different Jolly from Lucknow, brought a different kind of energy. He initially takes on cases for personal gain. He later gets entangled into certain challenges which pushes him to fight for real justice against a corrupt police officer. Akshay Kumar’s performance was largely appreciated for its impact.
The Songs
Comparing the songs of “Jolly LLB” and “Jolly LLB 2” would be interesting
Jolly LLB: The songs of this movie are more playful and light-hearted, matching the film’s humorous and satirical tone. The album includes:
- Jhooth Boliya: Sung by Kamal Khan, very popular one, often heard in the background for Jolly’s journey
- Daru Peeke Nachna
- Ajnabi
- Hans Ki Chaal
- L Lag Gaye
Jolly LLB 2: Some popular hits from the sequel are:
- Bawara Mann: Mentioning my favorite first, as this is a beautiful, emotional, also quite soulful song sung by the very talented Jubin Nautiyal and Neeti Mohan
- Go Pagal
- Jolly Good Fellow
- O Re Rangreza (Qawwali)
Both the movies used their songs well to complement their story.
Arshad Warsi vs Akshay Kumar
Who truly wears the Jolly lawyer’s shoes well? Who is the better Jolly for “Jolly LLB 3”?
Arshad’s Jolly in the 1st movie was pure magic. He had that underdog vibe — his humor, his expressions were priceless; so real.
Akshay Kumar, with his Akshay energy and star power, made Jolly more of a mainstream hero. He was hilarious in his own way.
Honestly, to me, both are incredibly good — fan of both.
Jolly LLB 3
Fans were super excited to see who will play the lead in “Jolly LLB 3”, but the cool part is both Arshad and Akshay will be in it together! No more debate or comparison, as fans will witness them together on the big screen. Another great piece of news for the fans is Saurabh Shukla, our favourite, will be a part of the 3rd part also. The remaining cast includes Huma Qureshi, Amrita Rao, and Annu Kapoor. Jolly LLB 3 is all set to release on September 19, 2025.
